The Phillies might not have much to play for in 2016 outside of 2017 draft position, but that’s not stopping them from having some fun this offseason and doing some good.
The team set up a fake press conference while Army Sgt. 1st Class Jamil Ali was on a tour of Citizens Bank Ballpark just so that Ali could walk in on the conference, and then be surprisingly brought to the front to interrupt it! You can read more about the ruse at MLB.com, which ended with Ali being given an all-expenses paid trip to the Phillies’ Phantasy camp in Florida.
