It’s here! Baseball! Real, live, Cactus League baseball!
Ok, the “real” in there is somewhat debatable, as the outcome of the game and, indeed, many of the individual performances therein, are entirely meaningless. But pitchers will be throwing pitches to hitters who are trying to hit them. It’s baseball, y’all. Enjoy it.
In case you don’t know, Pre-Gamin’ posts serve as both your precursor to the day’s game, and your place for conversation about the game when it gets going. So, if and when you’re looking for a Game Thread on a given day, check out the Pre-Gamin’ post. There it shall be. These posts will be much more robust when the regular season gets underway, but, for the purposes of the Spring, they should give you what you need to know.
Today’s game is not available via video anywhere, but you can listen to an audio broadcast at Cubs.com or using MLB’s At Bat app.
Travis Wood starts today for the Cubs, and he’ll be followed by Kyle Hendricks. Clayton Richard is also scheduled to pitch today at some point.
Today’s lineup:
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Jorge Soler, RF
- Miguel Montero, C
- Javier Baez, CF
- Tommy La Stella, 2B
- Dan Vogelbach, DH
- Munenori Kawasaki, SS
As we discussed yesterday, you can’t take anything at all away from the lineup – guys are just getting in their hacks. As Michael wrote earlier, though, I am eager to hear about how Baez looks in center field, and I also hope that Dan Vogelbach hits one 500 feet just because.
Baseball is back. It feels good.
