The Chicago Cubs won the first game of their series against the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday.
And today, they’ll look to make it three in a row (they won the last game in Cincinnati, too), with Jake Arrieta on the mound.
Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Brewers (Taylor Jungmann):
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, LF
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Tommy La Stella, 3B
- Addison Russell, SS
- David Ross, C
- Jake Arrieta, P
David Ross is getting another start tonight, presumably while Miguel Montero continues to rest with a sore back. With Jon Lester going tomorrow, that will likely be three straight starts for Ross – who also got two in a row this past weekend. While Montero is the better overall catcher, Ross has been playing well lately, especially on defense.[adinserter block=”1″]
Still, I’m guessing that the Cubs aren’t super excited to have Ross starting five games in the span of a week. Montero remains available off the bench and Javy Baez remains your emergency catcher.
Tommy La Stella also draws a start at third base, via Kris Bryant moving to left field. La Stella had a big game on Sunday (two 2Bs and a HR), so let’s see if he can keep the good times rolling. For what it’s worth, Jungmann, a righty, has been pretty much split neutral in his career.
Let’s see three in a row, eh?
