Chicago Cubs Lineup: Zobrist, Ross Out; Baez, Soler, Montero In
Yesterday, Jon Lester threw his second complete game as a Chicago Cub, beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1. Today, Kyle Hendricks will look to throw his third.
Although, that may be a tall order considering he just did it his last time out. Maybe the Cubs lineup will just give him a nice cushion-y lead, and he won’t have to worry about it.
Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Los Angeles Dodgers (Julio Urias):
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Jorge Soler, LF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Miguel Montero, C
- Kyle Hendricks
Ben Zobrist gets the day off today, after finally cooling off (0-6, 4 Ks) following one of the hottest starts to the season in all of baseball. Taking his place on the diamond is Javy Baez. This will be Baez’s second consecutive start and third in the last four games. His starts haven’t been particularly consistent this year, but he has gotten in there fairly often. He still hasn’t been striking out (just 3 in his last 32 plate appearances), but is hitting just .167 during that stretch. Believe me, that .185 BABIP will not last for long. A corner will soon be turned.
Also grabbing starts are Jorge Soler and Miguel Montero. Montero has started in just five of the Cubs’ ten games since May 22, as he continues to take things slowly. With the way David Ross has been playing, though, things could be worse.
The Cubs will face a 19-year-old starter today in Julio Urias, but we’ll discuss him a bit more in the Pre-Gamin’. That’ll come closer to game time.
