Man. That game was so wonkers I’m not even going to try and break it all down on the fly tonight. I never thought I’d see Hector Rondon called upon to get a single out in a Jake Arrieta-started game in which the Cubs scored 11 runs. My word.
We’ll have a lot – good and bad – to get into tomorrow.
For now, the most notable bits are, in some ways, things we already knew: Jake Arrieta is really battling command issues right now, the Cubs’ bullpen is scuffling, the Cubs are leaving a lot of runs on the bases*, and Kris Bryant is freaking awesome at baseball.
*(Were I not listing a series of elements, I wouldn’t be so dopey as to mention that one on a night the Cubs scored 11 runs. But, strictly speaking, they could have scored a ton more, and didn’t win by a lot.)[adinserter block=”1″]
