The Cubs have a long ways to go, before the outcome of this series means anything, but that doesn’t mean we won’t want to keep tabs on it.
Indeed, the American League kicks off their championship series tonight at Cleveland – the Paris of the Midwest.
Taking the ball for the home team is the 2014 AL Cy Young award winner, Corey Kluber. Kluber took the ball in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Red Sox and tossed seven shutout innings. He allowed just three hits and three walks against seven strikeouts.
Opposing Kluber for the Blue Jays is all-start righty Marco Estrada – who was equally (if not more) impressive in his Game 1 start against the Rangers. That night, he lasted 8.1 innings, and allowed just one earned run on four hits and no walks against six strikeouts.
Neither of these teams have lost a playoff game yet this season, so something’s gotta give. Again, it’s too early to have a horse in this race … but I’m betting that won’t stop you from providing us with your opinion.
