It was in the renderings, attached to the front of the office building …
And now it’s becoming a reality. The large video screen you see there is going up at the plaza at Wrigley Field:

The plaza is due to open at some point this year, though who will be allowed to access it and when is still a matter of some dispute. The City last year essentially announced, over Cubs objections, a number of significant limitations on the plaza, including that it would be limited to ticket-holders on game days. There are still negotiations going on, with at least some potential for the rules to be bent. We’ll see.
As it relates to the video screen, it would be nice for fans without tickets to be able to congregate on the plaza and “watch” the game together, if that’s going to be part of what the Cubs do there. I’m not sure if they’ll show the full broadcast of the game, but it’s hard to imagine the board not being put to some significant in-game use (which may include full games). I look forward to seeing what that is, and how the Cubs and the City work together to make sure that the plaza is the kind of fun gathering place that it can be. Outdoor spaces like that, to me, just scream out for all sides to figure out a way to maximize the public good without trying to wring every last dollar out of the thing.
