Before we get into the full Miscellany of today’s Spring Training tie with the White Sox, we wanted to highlight the Cubs’ two homers on the day.
Each of Addison Russell and Willson Contreras hit solo home runs to left field to kick off the scoring for the Cubs in the second (Russell) and fourth (Contreras) inning. The game wasn’t televised, but fortunately you can watch both homers right here, starting with Russell’s shot:

Russell’s shot was the first by a Cubs regular this Spring (prospect Charcer Burks took the first-by-anyone honor), and man that bat got around so quickly. The ball was crushed way over the berm, bouncing back into a concession area, where I assume it helped create the coolest plate of southwestern nachos ever. We know that Russell showed signs of improving his power more and more as the season went on last year, so perhaps even more power is coming.
The other Cubs homer came off the bat of Willson Contreras:

Contreras’s homer had a bit more loft on it, and just barely got over the wall. It reminded me a lot of the one Melky Cabrera robbed from Kris Bryant last season, remember that? Good effort, even in the Spring, Melk-man.
