The Cubs’ offense awakened this evening with a thunderous boom, dropping 11 runs and 17 hits on the Brewers. Every starter had at least one hit, with Kris Bryant, Addison Russell, Javy Baez, and Albert Almora all had multiple hits. (Almora also had a very nice catch.)
Oh, and Kyle Hendricks. Kyle Hendricks also had multiple hits.

As for his pitching, Hendricks was, at times, pitching as well as you’d expect tonight, with six Ks and just one walk over six innings. There were a couple missed spots did not miss Brewers bats, though, and he wound up giving up four earned runs. He did that last year just three times (and never more than four).
Pedro Strop and Justin Grimm showed off some serious nastiness to finish the game’s final three innings. Cubs win!
