The Cubs pulled out a series win today with a homer-and-defense-fueled victory over the Dodgers. Anthony Rizzo and Addison Russell each went deep for the first time this year, and Albert Almora Jr. was a freak in center field.
The Cubs also got four sterling innings from the bullpen, including two great ones from Carl Edwards Jr., bouncing back from his struggles on Monday night. He’s seemed to have that bounce back ability, hasn’t he? That’s a good trait to have if you’re going to be a late-inning reliever.

Brett Anderson did not have his best outing, even as he managed to complete five scoreless innings. You’ll take it, but the tightrope walk won’t always end so smoothly. The hallmark of a good Anderson start will feature few walks (he had four in this one), and few balls in the air (he had about six well-struck ones in the air in this one), so he’ll have better days.
But it’s a team game, after all, and it’s not like Anderson was brutal or anything. Cubs win! And they win the series!
