After already celebrating an amazing Albert Almora catch in center field, Anthony Rizzo’s first home run of the season, and a combination of Kyle Schwarber’s hilarious bobble and Almora’s second fantastic catch of the day (whew … I’m out of breath), we have yet another bit of fun to discuss …
Addison Russell’s first home run of the season!

Did you catch the bat flip? 🙂
That was Russell’s first home run of the season and first hit of the day (clearly, both he and Rizzo heard my call to action). He’s now hitting .270/.289/.459 on the year with a 97 wRC+. With his defense, he could sit there all year long and be a wonderfully valuable player. My guess? He gets better and better every day.

And with all due respect to Rizzo’s blast earlier in the game, Russell’s left the ball park!
According to Statcast, that was Russell’s longest home run at Wrigley Field ever. This game sure is turning into quite the highlight package, isn’t it?
Hopefully we get the opportunity to tie it all together with a Cubs win later this afternoon …
