Watch Addison Russell Walk It Off With A 375-Foot Three-Run Blast

Chicago Cubs

The depth of the Chicago Cubs lineup can show itself daily with a new hero lurking in the on deck circle at a moment’s notice.

Shortstop Addison Russell did the honors with a bloop and a blast on Wednesday, getting the Cubs to within one by poking one into right field in the 8th inning, and then sending everyone home happy with a three-run shot in the 9th.

How about that blast:

Yep. Blast accurately describes Russell’s game-winning three-run home run off Neftali Feliz. That ball could not have been put in a better place for Russell to drive it, and the 23-year-old simply hammered the pitch into the left field bleachers, giving the Cubs the 7-4 win.

Earlier in the game, Albert Almora Jr. hit his hardest home run, so it was apparently a day for well-struck dingers.

The win closes out the first home stand at Wrigley Field with a bang. A series win in come-from-behind fashion going into an off day before a road trip definitely feels good, especially after four consecutive losses.

As the Cubs would say, “We Never Quit”:
