In the swirl of roster moves earlier today, there was one move we were waiting to hear about: with the addition of Mark Zagunis to the 40-man roster, the Cubs were going to need to open up a spot somehow.
It’s going to come from lefty Zac Rosscup:
Zac Rosscup DFA'd to make room for Zagunis on the Cubs 40-man roster.

Rosscup, 29, showed degrees of promise in the big league bullpen for short stints in 2013, 2014, and 2015, but control issues and a shoulder injury cost him from there. He’s put up very solid numbers at AAA this year, but he got only a quick look-see at the big league level earlier this year, and didn’t stick.
The Cubs will have seven days to waive, trade, or release Rosscup. There’s a chance he will make it through waivers, and then elect to stick in the Cubs organization.
