It’s quite clear that what was wrong with the Cubs in the first half was a terrible case of “not enough Orioles.”
The bats were clicking in a big way again tonight, rocking pitch after pitch, and generally looking like the sleeping giant we always knew they could be. Of course, two games does not a season – or even a trend – make. But it’s been good to see nevertheless.
It was also good to see Jake Arrieta pitching very well tonight, spotting the ball (even when he wasn’t getting the corner called correctly). That was the kind of outing you wanted to see from him coming out of the break.
Just like that, the second half Cubs have won a series. And tomorrow, we get to see if new lefty Jose Quintana can make it a sweep.
