Mike Montgomery could be making his last start in the rotation for a while now that Kyle Hendricks is set to return, but he’s certainly making the most of it. As of this writing, he’s thrown five scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.
And, in a show of authority to all other starting pitcher challengers, he decided to destroy a baseball at the plate, too (via @Cubs):

Sure, it came off of an 80 mph pitch from RA Dickey that did nothing except sit on the inner half of the plate, but, hey, it’s not like I could hit it that far!
