WOW. That was unbelievable.
After the Cubs blew a bunch of scoring opportunities in partially self-inflicted ways, and then gave up two runs in completely self-inflicted ways in the 10th inning, you can’t say there was any part of you that expected the Cubs to win.
And you DEFINITELY can’t say you expected two of the Cubs’ three runs to score in the 10th inning by runners who’d reached base on a strikeout!
I was driving for most of this game, so I’ll have to reserve specific commentary for tomorrow after I’ve had a chance to dig in, but it seems Kyle Hendricks had another effective outing, and the bullpen featured another (daily) implosion.
Offensively, the Cubs got a three-run double from Albert Almora in the third inning, but that was it until the 10th, when the Cubs went strikeout, single, groundout, strikeout, HBP, single … and that somehow equated three runs!
