A scary moment in tonight’s win over the Reds, when Kris Bryant took a pitch off the hand in the 9th inning:

Bryant stayed in the game to run the bases, but was lifted for defense in the bottom of the 9th – it was actually Anthony Rizzo who switched over to play third base, as the Cubs were out of a better bench option. That probably tells you that the Cubs were eager to get Bryant out of there.
Thankfully, the initial medical review did not turn up a break:
Contusion for Bryant. X rays negative

Left hand contusion for Bryant. X-rays negative for fractures. If he's going to miss time, Cubs don't expect it to be anything big.

Bryant had xrays on hand where HBP. To be evaluated Wednesday.

Hopefully it doesn’t swell up overnight, which, combined with soreness, could cost Bryant some playing time, even if there’s no break in there. We won’t know anything more tonight, and it’ll just depend on how Bryant feels tomorrow.
Fingers crossed. Well, our fingers. Not Bryant’s fingers. He should leave them alone for a night.
