Today, the Chicago Cubs are making up yesterday’s snowed-out contest, and I’m happy to report the weather looks MUCH better this afternoon. Brett, Luis, and I will be sitting out in the right field bleachers, so come say hi and enjoy some baseball with us.
Tyler Chatwood is making his second start of the season today, and I’m particularly interested to see how it goes, because his first one was kind of a mixed bag. On the one hand, he allowed just one earned run on four hits over six innings (1.50 ERA), but on the other, he walked six while striking out four (4.74 FIP). He’s clearly got the stuff to succeed, but let’s hope he’s a little more accurate today.
The righty Ivan Nova is starting for the Pirates in this one, in what will be his third start of the year already. Nova has failed to complete six innings in each of his first two starts, and allowed a lot of damage (5H, 1BB, 5ER) in his most recent game against the Twins. For his career, Nova has been slightly worse against lefties than righties, but it’s not too big of a split. He’s always been hittable, the Cubs just have to prove it.
Alright, FINALLY it’s time for the home opener. See you there.
