Hey, if this was a four-game series, the Cubs just won it 3-1! And if you count the game the Cubs lost on Saturday as the rescheduled game from earlier instead, then it was a Cubs sweep! Bet you didn’t feel like that.
You also probably didn’t feel like this game was going anywhere good after a first inning that saw Yu Darvish throw 39 pitches and allow an early run. From there, though, he was fantastic, not allowing a hit or a run in the next five innings. He was wild today, but the Reds also couldn’t do anything with him. It was a quality start, and hopefully continues to move him along in the right direction.
It was *really* nice to see the back-end trio of Pedro Strop, Carl Edwards Jr., and Brandon Morrow go boom-boom-boom to finish the game out. That’s how it should be.
Offensively, it was mostly the homers carrying the day, with each of Kyle Schwarber, Javy Baez, and Ben Zobrist going deep. Baez and Schwarber had multiple hits, and Ian Happ once again had multiple walks. Schwarber was later ejected for some BS, but whatever.
Cubs win!
