Kris Bryant Takes On-Field Batting Practice, and a Rehab Assignment May Be Coming

How about a very pleasant sight to get you back into a winning spirit? Or something like that.

That’s Kris Bryant taking on-field batting practice before today’s game, under the watchful eye of the Cubs. Bryant then followed it up with some work in the field:

Even if Bryant feels great after today’s work, don’t look for him to jump right back into the lineup tomorrow. Increasingly, it sounds like a rehab assignment is coming:

I wouldn’t expect a particularly long assignment if Bryant is feeling good – maybe a game or two – but that’ll still leave him at least a few days away from returning. The Cubs head to San Francisco Monday through Wednesday, take the day off on Thursday, and then have a weekend series in San Diego, where Bryant played his college ball.

The South Bend Cubs and Iowa Cubs are both on the road this weekend, by the way (in Lansing and Nashville, respectively). The Tennessee Smokies return home tomorrow.
