A minor league highlight to share this afternoon in advance of tonight’s Cubs/Brewers tilt – it’s top prospect Miguel Amaya going way, way deep.

That was not a cheap inside yank job that a small guy cheated on. That’s just strong, authoritative contact up the middle.
Amaya, who only just turned 20 last month, is considered a very advanced defensive catcher, which plays a huge part in why he is frequently ranked at the top of the farm system (including here at BN), even over Nico Hoerner, who is a really, really strong number two.
Amaya has started to develop more physically – it was very apparent in Arizona this spring – and it would not be a surprise to see the power that started to emerge in the first half last year at South Bend carry forward to Myrtle Beach this year, and also perhaps stick around into the second half.
