Well, this day started out all about David Bote – and Ben Zobrist’s veteran-led push to get him into the starting lineup – but Kris Bryant’s third home run of the season and second of the series distracted us, and now Willson Contreras has something to say, as well.

Like Bryant before him, Contreras didn’t exactly obliterate that baseball (93 MPH, 366 feet), but it was just enough for this stadium and extended the Cubs lead to 3-0.
Contreras is now slashing a ridiculous .292/.427/.653 (178 wRC+), which is currently the 7th best mark in all of baseball … just barely behind Mike Trout (185 wRC+).
