The Chicago Cubs have a five-game winning streak on the line today – the longest active streak in baseball – and could extend their series loss-less streak (which dates all the way back to April 7), as well. Of course, just sticking it to the Cardinals again (after Kyle Hendricks 81-pitch complete game shutout yesterday) is reason enough to win.
As for the pitching matchup, Yu Darvish will be taking the mound for the Cubs after what was his best start of the season in Arizona: 6.0 IP, 2H, 1ER, 4BB, 8Ks. Hopefully, like Hendricks, his season is just getting started. Meanwhile, Michael Wacha is starting for the Cardinals, and the Cubs have had his number for as far back as I can remember. Hopefully, he’s on speed-dial again, today.
I’ll be at the game today. So if you see me, say hi. Go Cubs.
