Chicago Cubs Lineups: Brew Some Coffee, It’s Gonna Be a Late One

Can we ban the West Coast? I love baseball, but I hate 8:45 CT start times. Yuck. Here’s the Cubs lineup for the late-one tonight.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Kyle Schwarber, LF
  2. Javy Baez, SS
  3. Kris Bryant, 3B
  4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  5. Robel Garcia, 2B
  6. Jason Heyward, RF
  7. Albert Almora Jr., CF
  8. Martin Maldonado, C
  9. Alec Mills, P

The Cubs will be facing rookie right-hander Shaun Anderson tonight, in what will be the 13th big league start of his career. And like most right-handers, Anderson has been more susceptible to damage from players hitting from the left-side of the plate, of which there are four tonight (Kyle Schwarber, Anthony Rizzo, Robel Garcia, and Jason Heyward), than righties.

Speaking of which, the Cubs have decided to go with the righty Martin Maldonado behind the plate tonight, instead of the switch-hitting Victor Caratini (who could’ve been a fifth lefty against Anderson), but given whom the Cubs are starting, Alec Mills, I’m pretty fine with this battery. Plus, we’ll likely see Caratini tomorrow, when Yu Darvish takes the mound.

The bench tonight: Daniel Descalso, Addison Russell, David Bote, Victor Caratini.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to my bed time (8:40 CT).

Enhanced Box Score: Pirates 3, Cubs 2 – May 19, 2024

The Pirates Can Be As Mad As They Like, But That Call Was Correct

Wake Up and Watch Shota Imanaga Dominate and the Cubs Walk It Off
