The Cubs were already going to play tonight’s game without their starting catcher (Willson Contreras), center/right fielder (Jason Heyward), and top relievers (Craig Kimbrel, Brandon Kintzler, Steve Cishek) – to say nothing of Ben Zobrist or Brandon Morrow.
But now you can throw Javy Baez on the pile:
Javy Báez has been scratched due to illness.

Hopefully, this is nothing more than a short-term illness and they’ll get him back tomorrow. In the meantime … who’s ready for DAVID FREAKIN’ BOTE at shortstop? This should be a “fun” game.
Also … LOL @ Joe Maddon removing Albert Almora Jr. from the leadoff spot, just because … what? Baez isn’t batting fifth anymore?
