GOOD MORNING TO THE CHICAGO CUBS, THEIR FANS, THEIR COACHING STAFF, THEIR FRONT OFFICE, THEIR TRAINING STAFF, AND EVERY DANG PERSON WHO WANTS TO SEE THEM WIN TODAY.
The 2020 postseason march starts this afternoon for the Cubs, who host the Marlins at Wrigley Field. This season could hold only another two games for us, or we could get to watch these Cubs play for another month. This opening round before even reaching the NLDS has thrown me for a loop, trying not to think about the fact that you have to win a three-game set, a five-game set, and then a seven-game set before you even GET to the World Series this year. I’m trying to stay with today’s game and not think too far ahead.
I know anything can happen in a mere three-game set, but I really, really want these Cubs to get a crack at a full NLDS series. I hope every legal edge is taken to max out the chances of getting through this week so that we can all be like, OK, the Cubs are REALLY in this thing now. And that process starts today, with Kyle Hendricks doing his Wrigley Field thing – God willing – and the bats staying a little toasty.
