I just feel bad for Rick Renteria. We know what happened with the Cubs and the Joe Maddon timing, and now he’s been booted by another Chicago baseball team in favor of a legendary manager.
His work during the 2020 regular season, though, got him a finalist nod for the American League Manager of the Year award, which, in turn, led to this awkward congrats from the team that fired him:
