The Chicago Cubs have just eight Cactus League games left on the schedule, including this afternoon’s tilt against Joe Maddon, Dexter Fowler, Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
Here’s the Cubs lineup with Keegan Thompson on the mound:

If you’re keeping score at home (or if you read this morning’s Cubs Bullets), you’ll know that today was supposed to be Kyle Hendricks’ start, but he’s actually taking the mound on the back fields, so that David Ross can get eyes on some of the Cubs other pitchers (not just Thompson, but the likely greater volume of relievers that will follow his start compared to Hendricks).
Other than that, P.J. Higgins is getting yet another start behind the plate, and it’s sure starting to feel like he’ll be the Cubs backup catcher come Opening Day.
