The Scherzer-Turner megadeal between the Dodgers and Nationals still isn’t officially official. And that is almost certainly holding other things up.
Dodgers-Nats Scherzer-Turner mega blockbuster still isn’t quite done. Details remain to be worked out. They are working on those details now, and one would think they find resolution in the next 5 hours. But the Padres are standing by, in case.

If both the Padres and Dodgers are standing by, imagine what that, alone, could be holding up. If the Cubs are still talking to 10 teams on Craig Kimbrel, they are assuredly waiting for resolution in the NL West arms race re Scherzer before they would pull the trigger. And then there are ancillary moves after Kimbrel on other teams that are being held up. And what if the Mets are one of the teams that at least wants a shot at Kimbrel before deciding, say, to pull the trigger on Kris Bryant and Zach Davies? But also, what if the Padres want Davies as a back-up if they don’t get Scherzer, and want a chance at doing their OWN package deal with the Cubs? And what about all those Eric Hosmer money/prospects rumors? Nothing can happen there either while the Scherzer stuff is in limbo.
I could keep going. It’s all “just in case.”
Get it done. Resolve it. Let’s go.
