The Cubs came back to win this one late on the strength of a two-out, two-run Willson Contreras double. Think of that what you will, and in the meantime I’ll be rooting for the Twins to hold on tonight against the Tigers.
Kyle Hendricks was solid for five innings tonight, and though he wasn’t able to finish the sixth, at least he basically goes out on a good note. The year has not been a good one for Hendricks, and there will be plenty more to digest this offseason (and fear for next year). But for tonight, he was fine.
We don’t have many great moments on which to hang our hats in the waning days of the season, but this is certainly one tonight:
First pitch he sees, first big league hit for Trent Giambrone! pic.twitter.com/JznVnYkC4k
