Albert Pujols is one of the greatest hitters ever. That is inarguable in my opinion.
It is also inarguable, however, that Pujols is 42 and has not been an above-average hitter in six years. But at 679 career homers, it’s pretty clear Pujols wants an outside shot at reaching 700, which makes today’s rumors all the more fun to me:
Per sources, three teams have expressed interest in Albert Pujols. The addition of the DH to the National League has seemingly widened the market for the future Hall of Famer.

Cardinals, Mariners and Rockies in talks with Albert Pujols. Rockies is the team that has shown the most interest, per @mikedeportes. https://t.co/mhtiedtPsS

With the Cardinals, you have the nostalgia factor, to which I say whatever. With the Mariners, I don’t know, I guess he’s just viewed as a true platoon DH? He can still hit lefties a bit.
But with the Rockies, well that’s just fun. It’s a team that is likely to be quite bad, and could have PLENTY of DH starts for Pujols if they wanted to give him a shot at 700 homers. And it’s Coors Field, so that can’t hurt. I’d like to see it. I hope it happens.
