If the Cubs beat the Reds tonight, the Reds will become the first team to 30 loses this season.
Marcus Stroman is on the mound for the Cubs, making his second start since returning from the IL. His first start back, against Arizona, went pretty well, all things considered: 5.0 IP, 5H, 2ER, 0BB, 6Ks. He was even throwing harder than usual. I’d love to see more of that tonight, because Stroman had just started to find his groove before (presumably) catching COVID:
4/26 @ATL: 6.0 IP, 6H, 2ER, 0BB, 3Ks
5/01 @MIL: 7.0 IP, 2H, 0ER, 1BB, 5Ks
For what it’s worth, the Reds have been worse against lefties than righties (like Stroman) so far this season, but it’s not like they’re crushing righties, either: .219/.293/.368 (85 wRC+, 27th in MLB). This is another winnable game. GO CUBS.
