Andrelton Simmons Goes Full Extension to Stop a 108.2 MPH Baseball

Chicago Cubs

Although Nico Hoerner (who just returned from the IL today) is the most important shortstop on the Cubs roster right now, Andrelton Simmons can still get it with the glove.

In the bottom of the first inning tonight, the four-time Gold Glover reminded everyone why the Cubs signed him this offseason in the first place.

That ball left the bat at 108.2 MPH and had a .620 xBA … but Simmons reacted quickly, dove perfectly, and made a good throw to steal a hit from Brandon Drury. Well done.
