The top two guys in the Cubs batting order right now – Christopher Morel and Willson Contreras – are putting on a show each and every night.
This game started with Morel hitting a leadoff double, extending his on-base streak to a franchise record 16 games (to begin his career), and then Contreras gave one a ride out to left field to put the Cubs up two runs early.
As the Cubs pointed out, it’s his 3rd homer in his last 4 games – a stretch in which he’s been REALLY hitting the ball hard.

Statcast had Morel’s double at 109 MPH, 364 feet and Contreras’ 9th homer of the season at 97 MPH and 369 feet (the extra loft helped carry it into the net).
With that homer, Contreras is slashing .282/.399/.537 (163 wRC+)
