Cubs pitching prospect Hayden Wesneski makes his second big-league start tonight in Pittsburgh. PNC Park is a nice stadium that I’d recommend visiting as a fan. And not just because I saw Kyle Schwarber launch a dinger into the Allegheny River that crushed Gerrit Cole’s soul!
Anyway, here’s what it looks like behind Wesneski for his first start as a Cub.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Zach McKinstry, 2B
- Ian Happ, LF
- Franmil Reyes, DH
- Yan Gomes, C
- David Bote, 3B
- Alfonso Rivas, 1B
- Nelson Velásquez, RF
- Michael Hermosillo, CF
- Christopher Morel, SS
SP: Hayden Wesneski, RHP
Mitch Keller, the Pirates starter opposing Wesneski has been surprisingly cromulent since the All-Star Break. Keller has pitched to a 3.17 ERA in 54 innings over 10 starts. Even still … Ian Happ owns his soul to the tune of a .500/.600/1.000 slash line in 14 at-bats. Nothing like a 1.611 OPS against tonight’s starter when you’re the No. 2 hitter in the lineup. Maybe today is a good one to take a wager on a Happ total bases or home run prop bet?
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (5:35 CT).
