The Cubs – having already swapped in a new hitting coach – are currently not expected to make any other changes on their coaching staff, so there shouldn’t be any overlap.
Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox are the last club with a managerial opening. The latest reporting has it that Joe Espada is out, and only Royals bench coach Pedro Grifol and former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen are the confirmed other interviewees. I still have trouble believing the White Sox would go back to Guillen, ESPECIALLY having just dealt with the disaster that was Tony La Russa. But, hey, if they do it, I’ll certainly watch with rapt attention …
