Well, actually not … as this is not even an official Cactus League game, let alone regular season. But shut up, nerd. We’re having fun. And Nico Hoerner is doing fancy stuff with the glove.
That is an excellent catch, requiring an elite first step and even better timing/coordination. We joke, but Hoerner really is one of the front-runners for the 2023 NL Gold Glove award at second base. He is a stud. Defense is going to be particularly important for the Cubs this year, and Hoerner may be the best of the bunch (until PCA comes up …).
