Round 1, Pick 5: QB J.J. McCarthy, Michigan
The Broncos need a quarterback, and they traded up here with the Chargers to land J.J. McCarthy before the Giants could consider it at No. 6 or the Vikings could ahead of Denver at No. 12.

J.J. McCarthy is a promising quarterback known for his diverse passing abilities and athleticism. He excels at making quick decisions under pressure and is particularly effective against blitzes. However, his development has been somewhat limited by Michigan’s offensive system. While he needs to work on his processing speed and deep passing outside the numbers, his potential as a high-ceiling prospect is evident. With his skill set and familiarity with pro-style concepts, he’s likely to be a first-round draft pick.
Round 3, Pick 76: WR Javon Baker, UCF
Javon Baker, a former 5-star recruit from Alabama, transferred to UCF and quickly became a key part of their passing game. He excels at route-running and contested catches, making him a versatile threat. While he’s reliable and impactful, his ability to beat elite press coverage is a concern for his consistency in vertical routes. Overall, Baker brings reliability and versatility to any NFL offense.
Round 5, Pick 136: EDGE Justin Eboigbe, Alabama
Justin Eboigbe, a formidable 6-foot-5, 290-pound interior defensive lineman, showcased his versatility and high motor in the 2023 season with seven sacks and disruptive run plays. His quick first step and strength make him dominant against the run, often requiring double teams. In pass rush, he relies on agility and athleticism but needs to diversify his techniques for sustained success. Developing a more nuanced approach could elevate him to a game-changing force on the defensive line.
Round 5, Pick 145: C Drake Nugent, Michigan
Possessing a sturdy frame with solid core strength and upper-body power, he boasts a wealth of experience, having started 39 games split between Michigan and Stanford. Additionally, he served as team captain at Stanford in 2022. Demonstrating swift snapping and punching motions, he efficiently engages opponents at the line of scrimmage. Moreover, he maintains proper technique by keeping his head clear of his punches, effectively neutralizing rushes through adept lower-body leverage.
Round 6, Pick 203: CB Josh Wallace, Michigan
Wallace is a draftable prospect as a wide cornerback. Although undersized, he’s a natural leader with an excellent work ethic. He has adequate athleticism in man-to-man coverage but lacks the size to control larger NFL targets. Wallace has exceptional route-reading skills but an average closing burst. He’s intelligent, versatile, and a good tackler, making him a solid backup candidate.
