The Buffalo Bills won the AFC East for the fourth consecutive season, but they also suffered an NFL Playoffs Divisional Round loss for the third straight year. This team is amongst the best in the AFC but needs to add contributors via the NFL Draft if they hope to reach a Super Bowl for the first time since 1993. The Buffalo Bills top 5 NFL Draft priorities are below.
Buffalo Bills Positions to Address in the NFL Draft
The Bills are still one of the league’s best teams but their window of opportunity is rapidly closing. It’s now or never for the boys from Orchard Park. Let’s see the Buffalo Bills’ top priorities in the NFL Draft.
Safety
The dynamic duo of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer are no more and the Bills which means they need to replace both starting safeties. They did bring in Mike Edwards from Kansas City, and re-sign Taylor Rapp to at least solidify the position. However, they’re going to need depth and a possible upgrade to their defensive backfield if they plan on competing with the Chiefs in the AFC.
Wide Receiver
The Buffalo Bills have one of the game’s best receivers in Stefon Diggs, and he’s good enough to produce without help. That said, every alpha wideout does better with a legitimate threat opposite him. Gabe Davis used to be Robin to Diggs’ Batman, but he just left in free agency. Buffalo did go out and add Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins in response, but neither of these players has been, or will, pose the kind of threat needed to take the heat off of Stefon. Nor are they adequate replacements in the event of an injury to Diggs.

Edge Rusher
The Bills finished 2023 with the 4th most sacks and the 6th highest QB pressure rate. But they didn’t re-sign team sack leader Leonard Floyd and Von Miller’s fuel tank might be close to empty. Buffalo does have two very good, down lineman pass rushers in Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa, but they need edge players like Floyd and Miller to prevent teams from double-teaming them. This should be one of their primary focuses during the 2024 NFL Draft.
Running Back
Buffalo’s backfield took a major hit when A.J. Dillon reversed course and decided to return to Green Bay after initially agreeing to a deal with the Bills. They also lost bruiser Latavius Murray, which leaves James Cook and the recently re-signed Ty Johnson as the current 1-2 punch. If the Bills plan on extending Josh Allen’s career, they need to reduce his short-yardage usage and bring in a running back in the mold of Murray or Dillon via the draft.
Offensive line
Buffalo has had some of the more consistent offensive line play over the past few seasons and they are returning four of their five starters from last year. The lone exception is center Mitch Morse who’ll be replaced by incumbent starting left guard Connor McGovern. They signed former Charger Will Clapp to a 1-year deal for added depth but more is needed.
Buffalo Bills Free Agency Additions
The Buffalo Bills haven’t seen a ton of roster turnover, but have made a few nice additions so far this offseason.
