This past July, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies combined to create one of the more initially confusing and funny misplays of the season.
So watch (and laugh) as Phillies catcher Andrew Knapp scores from first, after Pirates first baseman Josh Bell gets distracted by the hitters’ bat flying into the stands and misses the *mostly perfect* attempted back-pick from Pirates catcher Elias Diaz (got all that?):

Rule #37 may be “Don’t throw the ball to first when the first baseman isn’t looking,” but Rule #1 is “Always keep your eye on the ball,” so … I think this is mostly Bell’s fault.
But hey, we know it’s hard to keep your eyes off flying bats:
