Can the Bulls Sneak into the Playoffs This Year? And Other Bullets

I need to know if anyone else does this, or if I’m just kind of crazy.

Whenever I have a cup of coffee, I can NEVER finish the bottom of it. Specifically, I’m talking about hot coffee. Throw me an iced drink and I’ll slurp that all the way down, but with hot coffee, a little will always be left at the bottom. I think I just hate when even a little bit of it gets room temperature or whatever. I don’t know.

Okay, just needed to get that off my chest. Bullets time!

  • SBNation’s Ricky O’Donnell joined Mark Schanowski on Bulls Talk, and the two had a very interesting conversation. A heated debate (well, as heated as Bulls Talk can get) broke out over Coby White’s potential role in this Bulls rotation come the regular season. Honestly, that discussion deserves a more thought-out approach, so look out for later today when we break down how involved we should expect to see White right off the bat. Otherwise, the podcast touched on plenty of key points, one of which was the Bulls over/under win total for the 2019-20 season. If you haven’t seen it already, you can go check out our post discussing the 30.5 win total set by BetOnline.ag.
  • As far as I’m concerned, if the Bulls do not win you money by betting the over on this, Chicago is in some serious trouble. Injuries pending, this group is much improved and added enough depth to the roster where they should, realistically, be nowhere near the bottom of the NBA standings. However, with that said, I wouldn’t be too surprised if the team only knocks out a couple of wins over that mark. On the podcast, the guys get into a discussion about the team’s likelihood to make the playoffs, and Schanowski brings up a good point: Who do the Bulls edge out? Last season the Magic and Pistons squeaked in with the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds, respectively, and it’s hard to see the Bulls passing up either squad right now. O’Donnell lists the Magic as “nothing to hang your hat on,” but at the end of the day that’s a sleeper favorite for some in the Eastern Conference with the return of All-Star Nikola Vucevic. Not to mention, the addition of Al-Farouq Aminu and a healthy Mo Bamba to the roster. The Pistons I can potentially get on board with, but Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond can still cause the Bulls some serious problems.
  • All in all, there are a lot of nice discussion points brought out in this addition of Bulls Talk, so I highly recommend going to listen through things:
  • The Basketball Insiders have released their grade for the Bulls offseason, and Chicago got an “above average” review with a solid B. The article points out the Bulls upward progression and, specifically, carried some big-time praise for Zach LaVine. A lot of the success in this upcoming season will ride on the back of LaVine’s continued progress, and Basketball Insiders labeled him as “on his way to becoming one of the elite shooting guards in the league.” Take that as you will.
  • We are breaking down some of the key performances at Summer League. Obviously, we started with Coby White, but now it’s Daniel Gafford’s turn. Give it a read…
  • I’m not quite sure why everyone keeps aging themselves on social media, but since ya gotta stay hip with the young new fades I threw Coby White into the mix. Thank goodness his precious locks are still intact.
  • Zach LaVine’s parents gave him a 1968 Pontiac LeMans. I’m not sure if you remember my bullets from the other day, but I do not know anything about cars. I guess this is a cool gift, but you can tell when the media starts writing about it, it’s a slow news cycle.
  • DO NOT SLEEP ON THE FINNISH KING!!!!
  • If you ask me, it should have been Lou’s.
