Japanese infielder Munenori Kawasaki first came over to the Major Leagues by way of the Mariners back in 2012. And although he wasn’t long for the States, he certainly left his mark quickly and loudly:

Cubs fans will also remember “Muni” fondly, as he was a part of the 2016 club that eventually went on to win the World Series and a constant provider of fun (and karaoke). Unfortunately, America was robbed of more amazing Muni moments (trademark pending) when the Cubs parted ways with their utility infielder earlier this Spring.
But now he’s back in Japan and hitting home runs.

In fact, earlier today he hit his first Japanese home run since 2011Â – a no-doubter to right field to give his team a 7-2 lead:
If you’re hoping to keep up with Kawasaki, he’ll be playing infield for the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks (a Minor League affiliate of the Hawks’ Ichi-gun), where he signed a one-year deal worth 90 million yen (just under $1M American) early this spring.
I’ll be rooting for him from across the pond, but something tells me this isn’t the last we’ve heard of Munenori Kawasaki.
