The last time the Chicago Bears won consecutive games, they beat the San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams – who have both since relocated to Los Angeles.
I’m not saying losing to the Bears drove those teams out of their respective towns, but it’s a funky little coincidence.
That John Fox’s teams haven’t been able to string together back-to-back wins since says a lot about how much the Bears have struggled in recent years. However, the Bears are a little healthier in Week 7 with the return of Nick Kwiatkoski, the offense has found an identity as a conservative, run-based offense behind a rookie quarterback, and the defense has been playing well enough to earn a spot among Pro Football Focus’ top units.
Chicago can take a positive step forward with a win against a talented Carolina Panthers team that leads the NFC South. It’s quite a challenge the Bears have on their plate, but today’s outcome could go a long way toward figuring out what this team is all about.
