And we were!
Just a few minutes later, the Cubs released their lineup for this afternoon’s contest against the Milwaukee Brewers, and, for the first time in nearly a week, it included the Cubs most valuable player and starting third baseman, Kris Bryant.
It appears as though Bryant has healed up – both mentally and physically – enough to return to action today. He didn’t wind up going on the disabled list, so no related roster move is needed, but he did end up missing four games. In any case, we’re glad to have him back –Â Bryant returns to a .319/.467/.536 (176 wRC+) slash line.
But he’s not the only good news of the day. Another lineup revelation featured Ben Zobrist back from the 10-Day disabled list.
To get back on the roster, the Cubs optioned infielder David Bote back to Triple-A Iowa, as expected:

Ben Zobrist originally hit the DL on April 21 (retroactive to April 14) with some back soreness. But after a good, long rest, he’s back in action and returns to a quality .326/.408/.465 (145 wRC+) slash line, with a walk rate (12.2%) higher than his strikeout rate (10.2%). Meanwhile, David Bote, who filled in admirably over the past week, returns to Triple-A Iowa after a quiet Major League debut (1-9, 2B).
The Cubs are back at full strength and going for a series win later this afternoon. WHEW!
