We’d been wondering why Kris Bryant was getting a blow today against a lefty, and it would certainly make sense at some point to give him rest, given his shoulder issue.
Still, even as I expected him to get rest from time to time in a general sense, it still makes me clench when I actually see it:
Bryant was feeling "fatigue" in his shoulder, Maddon specifically said it's "not hurting." So a day off for him as they're choosing to be proactive and Schwarber will play the field and face a lefty today.

Bryant sidelined due to left shoulder fatigue. Maddon emphasizes no pain, just lack of strength

It feels like we’ve done this dance before – recall, Bryant played through the issue, the went on the DL, then came back only head right back to the disabled list. All the while, there was some talk of pain, but frequently there were other more euphemistic expressions used. I don’t begrudge a single one of you who sees the rationale for sitting Bryant today and is terrified.
I guess we’ll see if Bryant is right back in there tomorrow against Jameson Taillon and the Pirates (a bad matchup for righties, you’ll note).
