Trubisky earned the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week for what was an all-time great performance (by Bears quarterbacking standards) against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
He completed 23 of 30 passes for 355 yards, scored 4 total touchdowns, posted a 148.6 passer rating, and led the Bears to their third consecutive win to stay atop the NFC North. Tack on the added importance of the Bears’ first against an NFC North opponent in more than 700 days and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better showing in Week 10
This has been a dream season for Trubisky. Through 10 games, he owns a 65.5 percent completion rate, 2,304 yards, 19 passing touchdowns touchdowns, and a 101.6 passer rating. Trubisky has improved his completion percentage, touchdown rate, yards per attempt, and average yards per game, while also better utilizing his mobility as a strength to move the pocket and throw the ball downfield in addition to making plays on the run when things aren’t there for him in the passing game. And to put a different spin on it, Trubisky has been better through nine games in the 2018 season (more passing yards and touchdowns; more rushing yards and touchdowns) than he was in the 12 games of his rookie season.

Trubisky’s breakout performance against the Buccaneers in Week 4 has been viewed as a flash in the pan or an outlier by some. But perhaps we might look back at that outing as the game in which Trubisky flipped the switch and started putting it all together. And if you were waiting for Trubisky to start playing like a quarterback worthy of a first-round selection, it looks like that time has come.
