The Blackhawks lost to the Jets tonight just 47 seconds into the game.
Winnipeg opened the scoring in under a minute to begin the game and jumped all over a, yet again, unprepared Blackhawks squad. To drive the point home, the eventual game-winning goal would come less than two minutes later when Neal Pionk made it a 2-0 game 2:23 minutes into the first period. It was over, but we still had to sit through the final 57:37 minutes of the game.
Not one Blackhawks player was visible tonight, unless they were causing a turnover that would eventually lead to a Jets goal or scoring chance. It was a game that was so familiar and so predictable. Chicago beat to the punch early, are unable to respond, and find the exit door before the final horn sounds after 60 minutes of hockey.
They are now 1-9-2. I don’t know what more to say about a team that continues to be a rudderless, soulless, pointless product on the ice. What more needs to happen for Jeremy Colliton to no longer be the coach? Does he have to fire himself? Does interim General Manager Kyle Davidson have the authority to make a coaching change? Does he have the guts?
It’s not all on the coach, I get it. Players have to show up and play the game they are paid millions of dollars to play at a level that is booming of a professional. But tonight looked like a team that had no motivation, no identity, no fire, and no answers. They were out-shot 26-9 in the final 40 minutes of the game, mustering just three shots on net in the third period.
