NBA Playoffs Update: That’s All She Wrote for the Bulls and Nuggets

A pair of six-seeds see their season end on Wednesday night, while the Bucks and Warriors are moving on to the conference semifinals next week.

Bucks 116, Bulls 100

Series: MIL WINS 4-1

Let’s be honest; no one expected the Bulls to beat the Bucks in this series. But, a competitive Game 1 and a decisive road victory in Game 2 gave Bulls fans a sense of hope that they didn’t expect. In the end, they were just setting us up for the fall, and the next two games in Chicago were knockout punches by the Milwaukee Bucks that brought everyone back down to earth. So much that last night felt like a prisoner on death row just having his last meal.

No Alex Caruso, no Zach LaVine, no chance for the Bulls in Game 5, and Milwaukee made sure that was clear from the jump.

Milwaukee cruised to a Game 5 victory and a series victory last night, and the Bucks will now take the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals with Game 1 set for Sunday.

As for Chicago, it was a fun season (most of it anyway), but there’s work to be done. The Bulls have to get bigger, and they have to add shooting off the bench. Eli has done a terrific job of covering the Bulls all season, and he’ll undoubtedly have everything covered as we transition into the offseason, so we’ll kick it to him for the final Bulls EBS to put a bow on this one.

Warriors 102, Nuggets 98

Series: GSW WINS 4-1

Nikola Jokić’s 37-point performance on Sunday helped the Nuggets avoid a sweep, and he gave the Nuggets everything he had again last night, but the Warriors were too much. Jokić scored 30 points and secured 19 rebounds while logging eight assists, two blocks, and a steal. Jokić shot 12-18 from the floor and 6-8 from the charity stripe.

Stephen Curry scored 30 points, and Klay Thompson and Gary Payton Jr. added 15 points as the Warriors topped the Nuggets 102-98 to eliminate Denver and set up a second-round meeting with Memphis or Minnesota in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Whether Golden State ends up with Memphis or Minnesota, that series won’t start until next week, so Stephen Curry and the Warriors now have some time to rest after they made quick work of Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets in the opening round.
