The Phoenix Suns made it official: Kevin Durant will make his debut tonight against the Charlotte Hornets.
The recently-acquired superstar hasn’t played since Jan. 8 due to an MCL sprain in his right knee. The current NBA injury report lists him as probable, but the full expectation is for him to see his first action in a Phoenix Suns uniform later this evening.
With that being the case, the Bulls are in line to be only the second team to get a taste of this new-look Suns squad. Phoenix heads to the United Center on Friday night for a 7:00 p.m. CT tip-off. Durant has already played Chicago twice this year, losing both games while scoring 32 points and 44 points, respectively.
The Suns, however, took complete control of the Bulls in their one battle back in November. Devin Booker dropped 51 points to lead the team to a 132-113 victory. So, yeah, to say I’m scared of what the Booker-Durant duo can do against this Bulls team later this week would be a massive understatement.
Of course, we’ll have to keep our eye on how Durant looks in tonight’s initial meeting with the Hornets. Not only is it possible that he’ll be on a minutes restriction over these first few games back, but you never know how long it might take him to get back into a groove. The Bulls could dodge at least a small bullet if he doesn’t look fully caught back up to speed.
