ESPN’s Jordan Reid Makes All 259 Picks in This Mock Draft and Has the Bears Taking…

The NFL Draft is four weeks from TONIGHT.

This means in 29 days, we’ll wake up knowing who the Chicago Bears took with their first-round pick.

It feels like I’m counting down toward Christmas. Except I’m not anticipating snow. At least, I’m hoping to not have to deal with snow. In reality, I’m just hoping for a better Christmas than I had in 2022. But I digress.

ESPN’s Jordan Reid put together a full seven-round mock draft. And in doing so, Reid makes every pick for each of the NFL’s 32 teams. That’s 259 picks if you’re keeping count at home.

As for the Bears, here is who Reid sends to Chicago as he plays the role of GM Ryan Poles:

  • Round 1, Pick 9: Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia
  • Round 2, Pick 53: Isaiah Foskey, Edge, Notre Dame
  • Round 2, Pick 61: Julius Brents, CB, Kansas State
  • Round 3, Pick 64: Zacch Pickens, DL, South Carolina
  • Round 4, Pick 103: Ricky Stromberg, OL, Arkansas
  • Round 4, Pick 133: Karl Brooks, DL, Bowling Green
  • Round 5, Pick 136: Xavier Hutchinson, WR, Iowa State
  • Round 5, Pick 148: Rashad Torrence, S, Florida
  • Round 7, Pick 258: C.J. Johnson, WR, East Carolina
  • Upon first glance, I don’t see any issues with this mock draft. It addresses needs on both sides of the line, which is my primary concern heading into the upcoming draft. Reid also sends the Bears even more receiver help. You can’t have too many options for Justin Fields. And there is even some defensive backfield help with a pair of picks. I don’t know if there is anything missing from this collection of picks.

Maybe you can make a case for drafting a late-round running back. Perhaps you can pitch me on the Bears taking someone like Stetson Bennett IV as a possible developmental backup QB option. Heck, you could probably make a case that the Bears should draft even more offensive (or defensive) linemen.

In the end, I think I’d be OK with this being the Bears draft haul when it is all said and done. Again, could there be more? Sure. But I’ll save my nitpicking for the actual draft.
